1 (3- to 5-lb.) stewing hen
3 carrots, peeled and sliced
1 large onion, chopped
3 stalks celery, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 (9.3-oz.) pkg. Bear Creek Chicken Noodle Soup Mix
1/2 tsp. cracked black pepper
8 cups water
1. Cook all ingredients in slow cooker on Low for 8 to 10 hours.
2. One hour before the end of cooking time, remove hen to plate. Take meat off the bones and discard skin and bones. Put chicken meat back into cooker and stir.
Note: Use large (5- to 7-quart) slow cooker.
