Indian Corn Soup

1 pound lean ground beef
2 cans whole kernel corn
2 cans white hominy
2 cans kidney beans
1 package onion soup mix

Brown ground beef and drain off excess fat. Combine ground beef and remaining ingredients in a large cast iron Dutch oven (if available) or a slow cooker. Be sure to include all liquid from cans. Add water to cover the vegetables, if necessary. Simmer over low heat for 2 to 4 hours and 6 hours is even better. Serve with cornbread.
